What to say about ROBLOX? Well, I joined it many years ago, and have become observant since then.
In-game, you can use Lua coding to create anything that you can make with blocks. And those blocks can very in shape, as well, by use of meshes. Or, for more skilled players, you may use what is called "Cframing", to put blocks at an angle, to add detail.
You can also express your opinions, create for virtual money (tickets and ROBUX), or terrorize children with giant penises that force them into a vagina with more penises spewing out of it, which will send the players messages that say "Your parents hate you and Santa doesn't exist". I know this because it has happened to me in a place.
Not only that, the forum, while moderated, is likely the worst part of the game. There was an update where most players didn't like it, called "3.0 bodies". They were the newest models for players, making the players look like toys. LEGO characters, somewhat. I said that I enjoyed them. I quote a player, "I will track you down, wait for you to get married and your wife is pregnant, and then beat her with a nail board."
Now, you might think that these things are bad (they are), but, some of the more mature players, the "forumers", build places. Someone built a place where, and I quote the staff, "children were 'unborn' into a detailed womb."
I can further explain that some children claimed they had nightmares as a result of this place.
Now that we have that out of the way, you might wonder, "Why the hell is this labeled as 'good for learning?'"
Good question. To answer it, the website itself does have Lua coding tutorials for anyone who wishes to learn ROBLOX's specific Lua coding. Not only that, but a player on the forum once claimed he was going to kill his mother. The players responded by telling him how to hide evidence and the quickest of disposing of a body.
To wrap it up, I'll explain the reasons I picked those specific "What should other families know about this?" buttons.
For violence, I've explained that children can essentially make whatever they please. To exemplify it, someone once made a place where you can watch a giant drill ram between a woman's legs, entitled "Big Abortion" which was deleted after the course of three months. I reported it every day for three months, only to see nothing happen.
For "Sex", some places are filled with players who put sexual advances on other players. You know, children. They describe just about anything you can find on urbandictionary in great detail, and then say "say 123 if you want to do that thing i said".
For language, that speaks for itself. But I'll go into it anyway. I quote one of the moderators when I say, "I will find your main account and f***ing destroy you."
For consumerism, I can honestly say that 90% of the forumers would call the owners of ROBLOX whores to their faces. They've actually hidden the "normal" membership (the one that costs the least) on their page. If you go on the website, you'll see the "Builders Club" page. If you go on the page, there is a small button in the top right of the box on the left of the page. If you click that secret button, the inexpensive membership will be revealed.
For Drinking, Drugs & Smoking, there are places made to mimic crackhouses, bars, and some cities feature back-alley drug dealers who say things along the lines of "8-balls for 8 BUX" (the short term for ROBUX). Along with parties that are deliberately labeled as "rave parties", which feature naked models and syringes on the floors and in kiddy pools.
I chose Safety & Privacy because... Well, just go on ROBLOX's website, and click the "TRUSTe" icon on the bottom of every page. They claim to be verified, but they're not. That's an out-right lie, or a scam, depending on if you Googled the definition of scam. Which would be "A dishonest scheme; a fraud." Now, back to why I selected this "What you should know" button. I purchased a membership for $45 for six months. It seemed like a good idea, as I was into the game. Then, I was given a permanent ban on Christmas for reporting a player for asking how to hack. Yes, they waited a week until Christmas. I asked them if I could have my account back for such a BS reason (I didn't word it like that.) and they said no. So I asked for a refund for my membership. They said "No. Buy it again." That says a lot. On top of that, I've heard a story on the forum (and on the news) about someone who purchased a regular membership (about six US dollars) and was charged two thousand dollars (about two thousand dollars too much), no refund, as it was "none of their concern."
So, what else can you say about ROBLOX? It's a cesspool of blood, semen, pedophiles, and it's $2,000 to get in.
