Married to Jonas

Common Sense Media says

Mild Jonas bro reality about family, marriage, music.
Age

Quality

  • The series highlights the day-to-day challenges the young married couple face, including balancing their personal lives with Kevin's music career, and making decisions about having children. The couple and their families are shown praying over meals.
  • The folks here love and respect each other, even if they don't always agree. The couple's parents mean well, but sometimes intrude on Kevin and Dani's private lives.
  • Disagreements between the couple lead to some slammed doors and mild arguments, but nothing over the top.
  • Contains some sexual innuendo (like an odd comment about bananas and beds) that will go over the heads of younger kids. Conversations often revolve about having children, but nothing sexual.
  • Not applicable.
  • The series is a promotional vehicle for the Jonas Brothers; their new music, album, and their upcoming tour are all discussed. Images from past concerts, etc. are sometimes visible.
  • Wine and champagne is visible over meals and at social events.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Married to Jonas features the now-married Kevin Jonas and his wife as they balance wedded life, in-laws, and the responsibilities that come with the Jonas' musical empire. No doubt that fans of the trio will want to tune in (especially since Nick and Joe are also on the show), but while most of the the content is mild enough for older tweens, it does contain some sexual innuendo (most of which will go over younger kids' heads), social drinking (wine, champagne), and mild arguments. The series is a promotional vehicle for the group's new album and upcoming tour.

Refreshing reality
I like this show. It is more "real" than a lot of reality t.v. I have seen. The people are actually likeable. Also, the relational struggles are more realistic and are handled well esp. between Dani and Kevin. I like the fact that the many couples represented show the fact that they are Christians but that doesn't make them cultural dopes. They drink alcohol and use the occasional foul language, but they don't get smashed drunk or trash talk people. Also, there is sexual innuendo, but it is vague. It is honestly appropriate for young married couple. Again, it is shown between a married couple. It is obvious that the family all loves each other and is committed to one another. That is the biggest message you get. It is a message that generally is profoundly lacking on television today.
