"The Lazy Song" (CD Single)

Common Sense Media says

Mostly clean single about taking a break from the rat race.
Age
13
Quality

  • Despite a couple of eyebrow-raising lines, the song has an overall positive message about taking time out from the rat race to relax every once in a while.
  • The song encourages kids to take a day to ignore their phones and have some downtime.
  • Not applicable.
  • One line about "find a really nice girl, have some really nice sex." Also, "turn the TV on, throw my hand in my pants" and "I'll just strut in my birthday suit and let everything hang loose."

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that while "The Lazy Song" doesn't have any graphic language or mention adult topics like substance use or violence, it does include a couple of lines about having sex and "strutting in my birthday suit." Still, these references are the exception in what's overall a clean song that's OK for younger teens. The song's message is mostly positive: Ignore the cell phone, and take a day to unwind.

Funny song
I like the song and the music video is hilarious. There's nothing bad about this song except for the part where he sings "I'll meet a real nice girl, have some real nice sex" part. The "throw a hand in my pants" part is gross but it's something you do when you're lazy.

Relax! It's called the Lazy Day not the Uptight Day!!!
I mean, the "hand in my pants" part was just too much, but Bruno has been so clean and good, now he's talking about s*x and "strutting in his birthday suit". Overall, a lot of my friends (and me!) listen to it and I don't think It's that bad, I just don't sing that part. And, yes, I'm a girl.

my lazy review :D
haha, i love this song. it makes me smile in a way :D but that part that says "have some really nice sex" isn't very good to hear o.o but besides that, its a catchy song thats great to hear during the summer when you wind down .

It's hilarious. Really. So very funny. However, if I had children, I probably wouldn't want them to hear stuff about things "hanging loose" and "throwing your hands in your pants" and "having really nice sex"

Great song
Good song, so good for all ages :) And it's not like a really little kid is gong to repeat and understand the sexual content!

Ok for teens/Tweens but not for kids
I love this song but my concerns are sex behavior that one line about "find a really nice girl, have some really nice sex." Also, "turn the TV on, throw my hand in my pants" and "I'll just strut in my birthday suit and let everything hang loose."  Close

A simple clean song of being lazy sometimes.
This song is good. It's about not to be so hurried everyday and take a day to relax.

Peas sing about romance in cleaner-than-usual track.
(by Britney Spears, Pop)
Slightly steamy dance single is OK for teens.
(by Jennifer Lopez, Pop)
Catchy club beat focuses mostly on dancing, not partying.
