Common Sense Media says

Edgy, teen-friendly musical comedy uplifts with song, heart.

  • Find your passion, and don't be afraid to take risks. Also: Open your heart to love, and it might find you. Joining groups may require you to overcome your skepticism and fears, but it may also lead you to even greater happiness.
  • Beca's individualistic streak extends to the rest of the Bellas in a positive way, though it does take them a while to learn how to be supportive of one another. Lots of emphasis on teamwork and how sometimes in the pursuit of the good of the team, a member has to be flexible and unselfish. Many jokes at the expense of the overweight, but the main overweight character also embraces her appearance to try to defuse bullying before it starts.
  • A melee breaks out -- though viewers don't really see any of the blows -- and a window winds up shattered. A sprinkling of verbal skirmishes, with name-calling.
  • Some kissing, plus plenty of sexual innuendoes about a few of the characters' sex lives. Some suggestive dancing during musical numbers. A couple's feet are shown sharing one shower, suggesting they're in the middle of intimate alone time. Characters use the word "slut" to refer to women who have non-serious sex partners.
  • "Bitch" is frequent and casual (and "pitch," which sounds like it, is used as a stand-in). Also one "f--k," "s--t," "t--s," "slutbags," "ass," "crap," "hell," "d--k," and "Jesus" (as an exclamation).
  • With so many Apple products everywhere, it might as well be an ad. Also: Ping, Mad Libs.
  • Some scenes at college parties show freshmen drinking beer (and whatever else) from tell-tale red cups. Drug references.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Pitch Perfect -- a winning musical comedy about a fiercely independent college student -- will give teens (and adults) plenty to like. Expect some strong language ("s--t," "bitch," "d--k," and one use of "f--k"), drug references, and underage drinking (though it's not heavily emphasized). There's also some kissing and lots of sexual innuendo and some sexual discussion, plus several jokes about a lesbian character's attraction to other women in the group. Although the young women portrayed here are, for the most part, strong and confident, sometimes a shaming word, "slut," is used to refer to them.

Great, Funny Movie
It is a very good movie. I liked it a lot! I think that children 12-13 and up woukd enjoy this movie. It had a party scene but that is about it. I really enjoyed this movie. Me and my 12 year old daughter saw it yesterday. There was a lot of language. That got tiring after a while but don't let that stop you from seeing it.

Hands down the best!!!!
Ha-freakin-larious!!! I'm pretty sure this is my favorite movie ever next 2 Mean Girls :D It does have a little language (Not like we don't hear it every day) and does involve a lesbian character, but that just adds to the story! It has the positive message of not to bully, and it is just hilarious. Fat Amy is my favorite character "Laaaaaa laaaaaa laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" :D

Musical movie shows two definitions of the word 'leader'
Music is a competitive industry, just like in this movie. The leader of the group was very bossy and controlling for that reason. When people get important leadership roles sometimes people take it too far. Beca wants to take over, and all the girls like her better. She's a leader, but with a different method. "Fat" Amy has been picked on for her size her whole life, so she was paranoid about the other girls doing too. So the way she copes is she bullies herself before others can do it. Bullying can cause kids to have a low self-esteem and feel hopeless about making friends. All of the women had this experience and that's why they had trouble coming together. What the first leader wanted was to do one song and one song only. Beca wanted everyone to work together as a group and not be afraid to say what they think. Cooperation is something I do not see often anymore because I hear about people getting into fights, and that wouldn't happen if they could talk about rather than using their fists and feet. Sometimes I wonder if fists and feet is the new way to communicate in this world, but I never want to hurt anybody, so I don't.

Good movie ;D
I think that this was a very entertaining movie (story line, dancing and singing, funny parts), but there was a lot of cussing and sexual references. I think that the movie would have been just as good (if not better) if all of that extra stuff wasn't in it. Otherwise, I REALLY enjoyed the movie. It teaches you to not always go by what you know, and to take risks. I think that this movie is good for anyone that's 14 or 15 or older. Hope this review helped :D

PITCH PERFECT
This may be the funniest movie I've ever seen. It was hilarious! The cast does an equally amazing job and I recommend it for anyone 13 and up. The only thing that makes it PG-13 is frequent language, but other than that, everyone go see this movie RIGHT NOW. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Funny
Absolutely hilarious! Rebel Wilson makes the movie funny, as she also did in "What to Expect When You're Expecting". I can only describe this as a mix between "Mean Girls" and "Glee" but much better. This movie is interesting through out, good role models. Only concern is drinking, they are in college and of age but they do have a party when all the acapella groups come together and drink beer.

(PG-13, 2000)

Smart, sassy movie, but expect raunchy humor, language.

(PG, 2009)
Music-driven teen flick is feel-good fun for parents, too.
(PG-13, 2006)

Clichéd dance movie with some fun moves.
