  • Controlling the trucks is fairly simple, done through minimal virtual buttons and either tilting your phone or tablet from side to side -- or using onscreen buttons to tilt the vehicle.
  • Trucks fall apart when they crash and sometimes explode.
  • Your onscreen "guide" in the game is a woman wearing a low-cut top, showing lots of cleavage.
  • Not applicable.
  • Players can pay 99 cents for an upgrade unlocking all of the game's vehicles if they're not patient enough to earn them through gameplay.
  • Some privacy concerns. Players can opt in to Apple's Game Center to track scores and achievements, and for some games, challenge friends. Players can send and receive friend requests using an email address or Game Center nickname, revealing the first and last name associated with each party's Apple ID and, in the case of email requests, the sender's email address. With iOS 5, players can opt to have a private or public profile, which can include a photo. With a public profile, your real name is visible to all other players, and Game Center will recommend you to other players using your real name. With a private profile, only your friends can see your real name, and Game Center will not recommend you to other players.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Offroad Legends is a monster truck stunt and racing game that has players jump their vehicles over a series of hills and obstacles. The game uses semi-realistic physics to convey momentum, but conveniently ignores reality to an extent in an effort to improve gameplay. There's minimal violence when a vehicle crashes (occasional explosions, but no human suffering is depicted), though an onscreen guide shows a fair bit of digital cleavage. Players can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional.
