AirAttack HD

Common Sense Media says

Military air combat shooter makes good use of iPad's tilt.

  • AirAttack's controls are intuitive and easy to pick up, taking advantage of the iPad's gyroscope. Since your plane fires automatically, you only need to worry about navigation and deciding when to drop bombs. The boss fights at the end of each level are very challenging, however, and could frustrate some players.
  • The pilot of your plane never takes his finger off of the fire button and never runs out of bombs to drop. The objective is pretty straight-forward, destroy everything you can. You will shoot down planes, ships, bridges, and buildings.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that AirAttack HD is a throwback to arcade shoot-em-up games that were popular in the late 1980s and mid-90s. As the name implies, you do little other than destroy other planes, ships, bridges, and buildings. There is some Nazi imagery in the game, but you play the part of the Allies, destroying those buildings and fortresses. It's a game that requires good reflexes and lots of concentration -- and could cause players to become frustrated, as certain areas are particularly difficult.
