  • Players try to help Jane Austen restore order to her novels after the characters in it "rebel" and start rewriting the stories.
  • The characters are flighty socialites for the most part. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are motivated by good intentions despite their "disobedient" actions in trying to change the plots of Austen's novels.
  • The game is easy to learn and play. Players have unlimited hints, and can switch to full-screen mode to make objects larger and easier to see. Many of the quests require concentration and dexterity, such as finding all the objects in less than 60 seconds.
  • Not applicable.
  • Romantic love is a central plot theme; however, there is absolutely nothing graphic or suggestive in the game's straight-laced Victorian story. Elizabeth even refers to her husband formally as "Mr. Darcy."
  • Not applicable.
  • Players can spend real-world cash on a premium currency that allows them to instantly unlock quests or replenish the energy bar.
  • Some of the hidden objects to find include a wine glass, beer stein, and tobacco pipe.
  • Some privacy and safety concerns. Players can share status updates and item requests on Facebook, and invite friends to play; however, friends don't play as big of a role in this game as they do in other social games.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Jane Austen's Rogues & Romance is a hidden object Facebook game featuring the characters and settings of five of Jane Austen's classic novels. The game is free to play, but players can spend real-world money to speed things up by instantly completing quests. As a reward, players can unlock excerpts from the novels read out loud by a voice actress. There is no objectionable content, but since it is on Facebook, you must be age 13 to play.
