Cooperation and fun in a great preschool game.

  • Dora is a brave, kind, and resourceful heroine who is a great role-model for young children. In this game, she helps others. Part of the play pattern encouraged here is to play games to do your best, not that you have to beat someone to enjoy two-person games.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this is a game based on the Dora the Explorer TV movie and DVD of the same name. If your children are Dora fans, they will love this preschool-friendly video game. It is fun, provides a no-fail environment, and is constantly changing. It even has a special mode where parents or older siblings can help by picking up a second controller. Plus two-person race games are cooperative instead of being competitive.

Wii Version: An excellent starter game with great controls
When speaking about the Wii version of this game, the controls are a huge plus. Tilting the remote in direction you want to move instead of the standard D-Pad control, makes this very accessible to any preschooler. Also, certain puzzles can only be solved by mimicking Dora's movements with the Wii-mote, getting the child up and moving. Great game that helps foster problem solving and confidence when they achieve milestones.

(Nintendo Wii)

Preschoolers get their own "wild" Wii game.

(Windows)

Lush 3D world where kids can romp and learn.

(Windows)
Fabulous way to introduce preschoolers to the PC.
(NR, 2008)

Extra-long Dora episode sticks with the show's formula.
